Philippe Park and Fort Desoto Engagement Shoot Locations

These two lovelies are getting married at one of the most beautiful, historic venues in all of Florida, not just Saint Petersburg- The Vinoy in downtown Saint Pete (see their wedding here!). I am lucky enough to not only document their love on their wedding day, but also to take some epic engagement photos for them too!

They wanted a more elegant look with overhanging trees, steps, and a mix of cultivated and natural Florida. The trees, especially on the main strip of Philippe Park in Safety Harbor are breathtaking. If you are visiting Florida in the summertime, the temperature changes 10-15 degrees once you get under them, plus you have a nice breeze from the coast line that is always seconds away.

Philippe Park is a fantastic choice for engagement photos, especially because the park is so large and spread out. It is also super close to shops and coffee in downtown Safety Harbor which is always a plus if you are grabbing food after your engagement shoot!

But we had two venues on our agenda. We were fighting rain, so we decided to wake early for the Philippe Park engagement photos, then planned to play it by ear for the second leg of our photoshoot.

Brittany and Jonathan wanted sunset photos on the beach, and the best place for engagement photos on the west coast of Florida will always be Ft Desoto Park. Fort Desoto is a historic place, construction started in 1898 and can still be seen pretty much intact today.

Besides the fort, the beaches are perfect for photos: rocks protruding from the water, sandy beaches notorious to Florida, and nature and sand dunes for vast miles in every direction. We got really lucky, the high chances of rain missed us early and sat off in the distance late. I can not be more happy for Brittany and Jonathan, and let’s go wedding day!

Enjoy and please let me know what you think!
